Alpaca Fiber...
Alpaca fiber was once reserved only for Incan royalty, now it is used by high-end fashion houses for a variety of items from hats & sweaters to business suits & wedding gowns! Hand-spinners also love to work with alpaca as it is a clean fiber and contains no lanolin. Alpaca fiber can actually be spun straight off the animal! It is as soft as cashmere, warmer than wool and found in many varying shades of natural colors. Even though alpaca is very warm it can also make luxurious summer garments as well. It is very lightweight due to a hollow center. It comes in varying degrees of fineness with "Royal Baby" being the finest. Most anyone can wear alpaca as it is lanolin-free and is considered hypoallergenic and as it also is very fine. It has an extremely low prickle factor.
